Elizabeth's Music School Policies + Procedures

Welcome all new and returning students! At Elizabeth’s Music School, we believe in three primary tenets: excellent and consistent music education, professional teacher development, and healthy communication. Please carefully read the following studio policy agreement. If you have any questions regarding policy, please reach out to our Office Manager Karah at karahh@emscamas.com.

Studio Communication

Communication within Elizabeth’s Music School is highly valued. Communication occurs primarily via email in monthly newsletter form. Parents and students can communicate with their teacher anytime via email, as well as in person during their scheduled lesson time. We ask that you do not interrupt another student’s scheduled time or your teacher’s personal time before or after your student’s scheduled lesson.

Attendance + Makeups

Attendance and makeup policies are an important part of the teacher/student relationship. Note the following policies:

  • Please be on time for your lesson, as tardiness results in lost instruction time.
  • Children under 6th grade are to be escorted to and from the classroom.
  • All teacher absences due to professional obligations, illness, or emergencies will be made up.
  • Private lessons are a month-to-month commitment. There is a 45 day cancellation policy to discontinue lessons.
  • Students may attempt to rearrange lessons up to three times per school year (excluding summer).
  • Non-emergency cancellations, last-minute cancellations including inclement weather or illness (within 48 hours) and “no-shows” may not be rescheduled or refunded, though online classes may be an option. Contact your teacher for details should this occur.
  • All class reschedules are arranged through the My Music Staff Student Portal (contact the Office Manager at karahh@emscamas.com for login assistance).
  • It is the students' responsibility to check the Portal for available makeup slots. Makeup lessons are not guaranteed since students reserve their teachers’ time during their regularly scheduled time slot. A minimum of 48 hours notice is required to attempt a makeup lesson. Makeup credits expire in 60 days.

Tuition + Fees

Monthly tuition is averaged throughout the year based upon 42 annual lessons. The additional 10 weeks include:

Parent Participation

The study of music is rewarding and enjoyable, but it is also work! Parents are a very important part of the learning process. You will be working as the “home teacher” as you supervise daily practicing. You are welcome to attend lessons and audio/video recording of lessons is encouraged. Each student will progress only when the assigned material is sufficiently mastered, as private lessons are progressive.

We are so excited to make amazing music with your students!
