Happy February! Here are the announcements that you need to know!

Summer Camps | Yes, we are hosting Summer Camps this year and we are SOOOO excited! Registration opens March 1st, so more info will be coming out shortly, but here are the dates!
– Let’s Play Recorder Camp w/ Ms. Karah | June 30-July 3 + July 7-10, 11:30am-12:30pm | Open to the public, Grades K-5, $200/session including materials
– Let’s Play It Again: Year 1 w/ Ms. Karah | June 30-July 3 + July 7-10, 1-1:45pm | Must have just completed LPM Year 1, $190/session including materials
– Let’s Play It Again: Year 2 w/ Ms. Karah | June 30-July 3 + July 7-10, 2-3pm | Must have just completed LPM Year 2, $200/session including materials

– Drumline Camp w/ Professional Drummer Johnnie Ballard | July 7-10, 9-11am | Open to the public, Grades 6-12, $300/session including materials and drumsticks
– Sound Beginnings: Sand and Sea w/ Ms. Brienne | Fridays, July 11-August 29, 9am + 9:45am | Open to the public, Ages 0-4, $200/session plus materials
– Aloha Ukulele Camp w/ Mr. Jake | July 14-17, 10am-12pm | Open to the public, Grades 3-8, $300/session including materials and an ukulele
– Band Camp w/ Mr. Jake + Ms. Brenna | July 21-24, 9am-12pm | Current EMS students only, ALL instruments, Grades 6-12, $350/session including materials

– Guitarmaggeden w/ Mr. Jake | August 4-7, 10am-12pm | Open to the public, Grades 3-8, $300/session including materials and an electric guitar
– Musical Theatre Camp w/ Ms. Annalisa | August 11-14, 9am-12pm | Open to the public, Grades 6-12, $350/session including materials

Private Lessons

Pop + Jazz Festival Results | We had an AMAZING Festival last weekend! We welcomed Dr. Dillard from Portland State University to work with our Clark County students and I was beaming all weekend long, so proud of all our EMS kids! Photos will be coming soon, but major congrats to ALL of our EMS students that placed in this county wide event! - Lower Youth Division I - Quillan Moro, 1st Place (student of Mr. Brian) - Lower Youth Division II - Raksha Jagannath, Honorable Mention (student of Ms. Marcella) - Upper Youth + Upper High - Jack Tyler, Honorable Mention (student of Ms. Elizabeth) - Solo Voice - Brielle Blair (Ms. Brenna) + Michael Morris (Ms. Annalisa), 1st Place tie - Natalie Morris (Ms. Annalisa), 2nd Place - Anna Lilleboe (Ms. Brenna), Honorable Mention - Ensembles - Autumn Leaves, 1st Place - Stars Tonight, 2nd Place - Africa, Honorable Mention Music Literacy Program - Guitar + Piano | February 24-28 | Our Music Literacy Program is coming up soon! At EMS, we value developing the complete musician, which includes other musicianship skills besides JUST being able to play your instrument. These assessments will be administered by your teacher during your regularly scheduled lessons. They include topics such as sight reading, rhythm reading, ear training, written theory, and technical studies. Spring Recitals | Save the Date! Saturday, May 31st at Grace Church in Camas, WA. *If you have siblings that study with multiple teachers, then let us know what recital you prefer to join* - 9:30AM - Piano - Ms. Chunghah + Mr. Brian - 11AM - Piano - Ms. Brienne - 1PM - Piano - Mr. Abraham - 2:30PM - Guitar + Vocal Solos - Ms. Annalisa, Ms. Brenna, Mr. Jake, + Mr. Robert - 4PM Production - Student Ensembles + Ms. Elizabeth - 6PM Production - Student Ensembles + Ms. Elizabeth Romantic + 20th Century Festival | May 17-18th at Portland Piano Company, registration deadline Apr 25th, $25-40 depending on age bracket | Our final competition of the year! Students compete in a small format master class, one romantic or 20th century piece from memory.

Spring Showcase | Sat, June 14th, 2-3pm | We have a very special Showcase event for our Year 1 and Year 2 students, LPM style! Save the Date! Spring Recital | Sat, June 14th, 3:30pm | And for our LPM Year 3 graduates, a very special and unique piano recital, just for you! :)

Just for Fun

Student Achievements | We had a GREAT January, including an incredible Pop + Jazz Festival last weekend! Congrats to ALL our amazing EMS students that placed in this county-wide competition! Major WOW, congrats to adult student Sarah (Ms. Elizabeth), who passed Syllabus Level 6 - on her birthday, no less! And just as amazing, Eleanor (Ms. Brienne) passed the Primer Level!! Way to go and welcome to Level 1!! Lots of scales too - congrats to Will (Ms. Brienne) for passing his Level 1 scales, Natalie (Ms. Brienne) for passing her Primer scales, and Avarie (Ms. Brienne) for passing her Beat the Clock! You guys are amazing!!

My three sons have been taking piano lessons at EMS for the past six years, and it has been an incredible experience for our family. While EMS is an outstanding music school, the recitals and festivals have been especially valuable in helping them build confidence and develop their performance skills. Ms. Elizabeth is exceptionally kind and truly passionate about music education. Her enthusiasm, dedication, and joy for teaching piano are evident in every lesson, and her commitment to her students is unmatched. This program provides and excellent base for a child's musical development. I feel my kids understanding of music theory gained from Let's Play Music will allow them to pursue any instrument they desire in the future. She inspires the kids to be curious and to put in the work. As a lifelong musician myself, I wish I had something like this when I was younger. Our youngest has taken piano lessons for two year and has learned a ton from her teacher (currently Ms. Jean).  Our son just started drum lessons from Mr. Charles a few months ago.
