Parent's Notes

Happy Spring Break! I’ve been trying to break down the info into smaller emails lately, but for those who just like to get all their info in one place, look no further!

Summer Private Lesson Schedule | We revise the schedule twice a year to accommodate more flexible summer schedules and all the changes that come with Fall! The Summer Scheduling form is officially open! We are a year round music school, because TONS of learning actually happens in the summer. Kids are more relaxed, have less responsibilities, more time to ENJOY their music, and don’t experience the “summer slide” come Fall! Please fill out the summer scheduling form by May 1st for priority scheduling!

Graduating Seniors | Do you have a high school GRADUATE this year? Be sure to email me by April 15th because we'd love to celebrate your senior with you! Spring Recital Schedule | We LOVE getting to see your amazing kids SHINE at their Spring Recitals! Check out the performance schedule below. Students will be scheduled on My Music Staff very soon for the students in the 4PM + 6PM shows. Saturday, May 31st at Grace Church in Camas. If you have siblings that study with multiple teachers, just let us know what recital you would prefer to join. - 9:30AM - Piano - Mr. Brian + Ms. Chunghah - 11AM - Piano - Ms. Brienne - 1PM - Piano - Mr. Abraham + Ms. Radhika - 2:30PM - Guitar + Voice Solos - Ms. Annalisa, Ms. Brenna, + Mr. Jake - 4PM Production - Student Ensembles + Ms. Elizabeth - 6PM Production - Student Ensembles + Ms. Elizabeth Arts Ambassador Program | My colleague Sarah Lightfoot founded a local non-profit to help assist music and arts students pursue individualized projects! Romantic + 20th Century Festival, May 17-18 at Portland Piano Company | Our final Festival competition of the year! Dr. Lark Powers will be adjudicating this awesome event. Just for Fun

March was a BUSY month!! Look at all your students accomplished!! We had SO many Syllabus level completions!! WOW!!! Level VIII - Jamie (Ms. Elizabeth) Level IV - Rishi (Ms. Marcella) Level II - Alice (Ms. Brienne), Chloe (Ms. Brienne), and Laila (Ms. Chunghah) Level I - Avarie (Ms. Brienne), Emmett (Ms. Chunghah), and Karah (Ms. Elizabeth) And on the Faber side, yet more books are falling like flies!! Level 1 - Rainier (Ms. Marcella) Primer Level - Aariv (Ms. Brienne), Veronica (Ms. Brienne) In the guitar department, Calvin (Mr. Jake) just completed Guitar Level 2 and Ann (Mr. Jake) just finished Guitar Level 1 - Wow!! Welcome to your new levels! Elliana, Katherine, and Elise (Ms. Elizabeth) all participated in the Washington State Music Artistry Program and their adjudicator just gushed over their beautiful technique and musical playing! Well done, ladies! It's truly a joy and honor to see your students pursuing their dreams and developing these talents! People often say to me, wow, I wish I was as talented as you. To which I always respond, it's not raw talent, it's hard WORK. Keep at it, EMS!

My three sons have been taking piano lessons at EMS for the past six years, and it has been an incredible experience for our family. While EMS is an outstanding music school, the recitals and festivals have been especially valuable in helping them build confidence and develop their performance skills. Ms. Elizabeth is exceptionally kind and truly passionate about music education. Her enthusiasm, dedication, and joy for teaching piano are evident in every lesson, and her commitment to her students is unmatched. This program provides and excellent base for a child's musical development. I feel my kids understanding of music theory gained from Let's Play Music will allow them to pursue any instrument they desire in the future. She inspires the kids to be curious and to put in the work. As a lifelong musician myself, I wish I had something like this when I was younger. Our youngest has taken piano lessons for two year and has learned a ton from her teacher (currently Ms. Jean).  Our son just started drum lessons from Mr. Charles a few months ago.
