Growing With Camas Since 2005

Camas has always been a town that puts community and education first. As downtown has grown, we’ve watched it change: new restaurants, boutique shops along Fourth Avenue, tech companies moving in next to buildings that have been here for decades. We’ve grown right alongside it, working with local families for nearly 20 years to help hundreds of students learn to play, sing, and find their own sound. Now we’re expanding again to keep up with what our town needs.

We’ve Been Here, Growing With You

Since 2005, Elizabeth’s Music School has been part of Camas’s story. We’ve watched this town change from a quiet mill community into a place families choose on purpose. Our students perform at local events, our teachers live in the neighborhoods around us, and many of our families have stayed with us for years.

Sometimes a child starts in Sound Beginnings, then their sibling joins, then a friend from school, and years later a parent finally walks through the door ready to learn an instrument themselves. That kind of continuity means something. We’re building relationships that last years: watching kids grow up, celebrating recitals and milestones, becoming a familiar part of your family’s life.

Music for Every Stage

We believe music is for everyone, whether you’re three or seventy-three.

For our youngest students, we partner with Sound Beginnings and Let’s Play Music, two research-based programs built around how young children actually learn. We watch toddlers discover rhythm and four-year-olds start recognizing patterns, early building blocks for how they’ll listen, think, and express themselves as they grow.

Our private lessons serve students from age five through adulthood. Yes, adulthood; we have plenty of grown-ups walking through our doors for the first time, finally learning the instrument they always wanted to play. Our teachers bring serious musical training and the patience to work with each student at their own pace. Many studied at places like Brown University, Boston University’s Tanglewood Institute, and New Mexico State University.

Whether you’re working toward college scholarships through our Piano Syllabus Program or just want to learn enough guitar to play around a campfire, we’ll help you get there. Classical training, jazz improvisation, musical theater, the songs you hear on the radio: we teach what you want to learn, with the technical foundation underneath it to keep you growing.

Something New: Singing Together

This year we launched our community choir. It felt like the natural next step for a town that values people gathering together, and there’s something about making music as a group that builds connection in a way solo lessons can’t. Our choir is open to anyone who loves to sing. No audition required, just a willingness to show up and be part of something collective.

It’s quickly become one of our favorite additions: neighbors coming together through harmony, literally.

Why It Works

After nearly two decades, we’ve learned something simple: when students genuinely enjoy their lessons, everything else follows. They practice more. They progress faster. They stick with music instead of quitting when it gets hard.

Our teachers focus on keeping lessons engaging. We let students explore the music they actually want to play, while working in the core principles they need underneath it. A kid learning their favorite pop song on piano is still learning chord progressions, hand independence, and rhythm. An adult working through a classic rock guitar riff is still building finger strength and understanding song structure. The technical skills come through playing music you actually care about.

We’re flexible, too. Life in Camas is busy, and families are juggling school, sports, work, and everything else. We build lessons around your schedule, not the other way around.

Part of What Makes Camas Home

Camas keeps growing: new families, new businesses, new faces downtown. We’re growing with it, deliberately. We’re not trying to be the biggest music school in town. We want to be the place where a six-year-old is excited to show up for lessons, a teenager can seriously prepare for a music scholarship, a retiree can finally tackle that instrument they’ve always wanted to learn, and a group of neighbors can gather to sing together on a Tuesday night.

From the toddler discovering rhythm in Sound Beginnings, to the adult picking up guitar for the first time, to the voice student prepping for the school musical, to our choir members finding harmony together: we’re here for all of it.

We love this town, and we love being your music school.
